From the back of the room I couldn’t see what was going on, but saw enough turmoil from the teacher and the students scurrying to get out of the way to know I’d best get there—quick!

A group of adults from our church had been hosting a week-long Vacation Bible School at a mission center in Houston, Texas inner city. The number of kiddos attending had been miraculous, and up ‘til this last day things had been very orderly, well, as orderly as they could be with a bunch of energetic children.

I saw one of the young teen boys who had been in my group struggling, eyes blazing, defiant—my heart sank.

The teacher held Juan by his arm. She glanced at me, “He kicked me and hit that boy.” She pointed to an older teen about to slip out the side door.

I had seen the older boy harassing the children during the week and knew he was trouble. Several men stopped him before he made it outside; while together with another man, we approached the younger teen and the teacher. I took Juan’s arm. “Come with us, son.”

He yanked his arm away and the man and I walked Juan outside. I stepped to the curb of the noisy Houston street, sat down, and patted the cement beside me. “Juan, sit down and tell me what happened.”

He glared at the man. I nodded for him to leave. “Looks like they’ve caught the other boy. He’s trouble. We’re fine.”

The man turned to Juan. “No more foolishness, son. You hear?”

Juan shrugged and sat down next to me—his stony glare would’ve melted metal. We sat in silence for a moment. He never blinked. Just angry to the bone.

“Will you tell me what happened?” I prayed, what do I say to this boy, Father? Give me words and understanding. “I know this isn’t your normal behavior. What did that guy do or say to make you kick the teacher and slug him?”

Except for the noise on the street and the background of arriving policemen who took the older teen away, we sat for what seemed like an eternity. But as his wall of anger crumbled, I watched hurt take its place.

“You…you people…just do-gooders…wanna make yourselves feel good. You don’t care about me. You’ll get on your bus and go back to your rich homes. I ain’t nothin’ to you. You ain’t nothing to me. We are different.” But I saw tears form in the corners of his eyes.

I took his arm and held mine up beside his. “Juan, if a doctor peeled off your skin and mine …your blood would be red, just like mine. We were both created by our Father in Heaven with one and the same blood. He loves you, just like He loves me, and like He loves all your friends…” I nodded toward the door, “…back inside.”

At that moment, I felt the oppression and understood, this had been an attack of the evil one. “What did that older boy say or do inside? I’ve seen him hanging around all week, but he refused to come inside.” Every time he appeared the kids grew antsy-dansy like a herd of demons pulled their strings.

Juan looked away. “Nothin’.”

“I know we were working on our wordless books this week and you’ve been very interested. Today we talked about the red page…representing the blood of Jesus. The blood Jesus shed to make you and me clean and presentable before God.”

He jerked his head back to face me, his eyes blazed again. “God loves you. He hates me. You’re rich. I’m poor.” But his words left a question mark dangling at the end of each statement.

“Honey…” I reached for his hand and he let me hold it. “…money has nothing to do with your relationship with our Lord Jesus. Jesus owns it all. Rich, poor, and everything in between. The man hanging on the cross next to Jesus was a thief—a common criminal, but he chose to trust Jesus to take the punishment he deserved. And Jesus told the thief, that very day he would be with Him in Heaven.”

Juan wiped the moisture from his eyes. “That guy…” he nodded toward the group of men watching the patrol car leave. “That guy’s a gang member. He said if any of us believed the lies you told, he would beat us up, hurt our families…” He paused and choked back what looked like an enormous knot in his throat. “And he would slash the tires on your bus and make sure you never came back.”

“And where is he now, Juan?” I leaned to meet him at eye level.

“He’ll be back.” He whispered. “And others will come with him.”

“Remember when we talked about fear this week?” It was my turn to take a gulp. Oh Lord give me words this young man needs to hear. “Fear doesn’t come from God, Juan. It comes from the enemy of your soul, the devil. All anger and fear come from the devil. He wants you to be afraid so you won’t listen to Jesus and trust Him to take care of you. God is greater than the devil. Jesus defeated the devil when He rose from the grave. Where is that teenager now, Juan?”
“Going to jail.”

“If you choose to trust Jesus to be your Savior nothing will happen to you that God doesn’t allow. You will be a child of God. A child of the King. And He will hold you in the palm of His hand.” Father let Him hear You. Let this young man believe and trust in You.

Juan scrambled to his feet and pulled me up with him. “I’d like to go back inside now. Will you come with me?”

The invitation was given and several of the boys and girls came forward to say yes to Jesus. Juan pulled me down the aisle with him. I heard several of the teachers give a hearty amen as my new little brother and I walked to the foot of the cross. He was now in The Father’s hands.

Red, Yellow Black White

“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands…and He made from one blood, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His offspring’ “ (Acts 17:24, 26-28 NAS).

                                                              *     *     *     *

The same angry lies are being hurled around us today.  Attacks are worldwide. And when we refuse to hear, cling to, and obey God’s Truth, our only option, by default, is believing the lies of deception and fear that always come from the enemy of our souls—Satan.

Unfortunately, the past fifty years the church has closed its doors and hidden inside, forgetting the one command Jesus gave us—go and make disciples. Now there seems to be more of them than there are of us. And if we continue to do nothing, that’s where it will end.

Mothers and fathers chose the idol of money and a better lifestyle today, rather than fulfilling God’s command to train up their children in the way they should go—they left that training to those who’ve slipped in unnoticed among us—just like that kid from the gang slipped into Bible School that day.

For the past fifty or more years those powers of evil, like the Book of Jude tells us: “…those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ” have slipped into every area of our lives…at church…in city hall…at schools and universities…and every area of our neighborhoods and government.

Fear and anger are not from the Sovereign God of the universe…they are from the father of lies…Satan. And his demons are hard at work because they know their time is short. Whenever you see lies, fear, and anger…make a note of the originator. Whether it be college students throwing stones, women hoisting their fannies up a memorial statue to destroy it, men in cars and trucks mowing people down, university professors blustering about the ignorance of the masses, media personalities belching character assignations, or politicians spewing hatred…it begins and ends with Satan himself.

When Americans chose to allow unrighteous men and women who “suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them…” when we allowed them to dictate the direction of educating our children, determining to overturn the Biblical principles this nation was founded upon, we rebelled and turned our back against the Sovereign Lord God Almighty.

God does not change. His Word will stand forever…but America will suffer the wrath of God’s judgment. Make no mistake—A nation divided against itself cannot stand.

Do you believe the little woman crawling up that statue last week felt the release of her anger when the statue fell? No. She was empowered as were those in Charlottesville. They accomplished their momentary purpose, but like the taste of blood on a wolf’s tongue, their anger cannot be satisfied. What will they destroy next? Word is they are aiming for Mt. Rushmore and Stone Mountain. The Washington Monument next? The Lincoln Memorial? Church steeples? Or perhaps my home, or your home—if we don’t agree to shut up or join their angry mob. Where will we draw the line in the sand?

Side issues are thrown into the murky mix to muddy the waters. This nation has made mistakes, and if God allows America to continue, we will make more. But don’t be drawn into the muck and mire of man’s understanding.

Jesus is answer. The only answer. Has been since the beginning. The blood of Jesus—Jesus’ pure red blood cleanses those who believe and obey from all sins.

“Jesus said unto him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but through Me’” (John 14:6 NAS).

God cannot look upon our nation at this moment in time except to judge us because of our rebellion. Close to sixty million or more cries of aborted babies scream and pollute this nation’s soil. Unless God’s people, who are called by His name, humble themselves, and turn from their wicked ways, and pray and seek His face…America is doomed.

But, the choice is yours!

When you reject Truth, all that’s left is a lie! Where you begin, determines were you end—with The Truth or with the Lie?

Please welcome to my blog this morning, new friend and writer, Michele Herzog. Those of you looking forward to my Sandcastles post will have to wait a few more days, while we consider those fifty-five million plus children who will never have the opportunity to dash through the waves and build whimsical castles in the sand.

Michele, thank you for your love for children and the Lord.

Their Ashes Will Not Be Forgotten

Today the documentary “After Tiller” made it’s debut for all the world to see into the lives of the four self-proclaimed late term abortionists still practicing this absolute barbaric and gruesome procedure in America.

I have to say that when I was reminded of this being the opening day of the documentary, my mind went back to the years I stood in front of Tiller’s late term abortuary.

I couldn’t help but think of all the faithful Christian’s over the years that stood in the middle of winter in below zero weather or the blazing hot summer’s and never ending blowing wind, praying, crying and pleading with the women going into Tiller’s infamous late term abortion facility, the years it was open.

I began to think of the ten years of going out to Tiller’s at 6:00am on Tuesday mornings, week after week, year after year to be there for all the women that would come from around the country and abroad to have their late term abortions. It’s hard to write this, as I think of the women full term having a hard time getting out of their car. Their child fully formed, sometimes ready to be born.

But what I remember the most was the smoke stack, the thick smoke that would billow out, and the ashes of the children would fall all around us, sometimes falling like snow, covering our windshields, and sometimes pieces of the baby would fall on our feet. You see, George Tiller had an adult size crematorium and all those babies would be thrown into that incinerator and their ashes would flow across Wichita, the smell of human flesh burning was everywhere around us.

My friend Karen and I would walk back and forth across the driveway reading the word when women weren’t coming in. The sword of the spirit would keep us focused on Christ amidst the absolute evil that surrounded us. Another friend of mine, Don, would lead worship in front of this place of death because the praises of His people scatter the enemy.

I remember the day Christin Gilbert died, a down syndrome young girl who had been taken to Tiller’s and died at the hands of none other then Leroy Carhart, one of the four being held in high esteem in this movie, and made out to be somewhat of a hero; which is such a dichotomy as Christin is not the only woman Carhart has butchered along with the 1,000’s of babies he has killed.

Abortionists Leroy Carhart, George Tiller, Shelly Sella &Susan Robinson

(Operation Rescue)
Yes, abortionist Carhart would drive down from Nebraska to perform abortions at Tiller’s abortuary along with Shelly Sella and Susan Robinson flying in each month to also help along with the business of late term abortions. Three out of the four abortionists in this film used to kill little human beings regularly at Tillers.

I feel at times that it was just a terrible nightmare what I saw at that place of death, but it wasn’t, it really happened, I truly saw evil.

These four are not heros; heros save lives, they don’t brutally kill innocent human beings. I like and agree with what Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue stated in a Fox interview, “After Tiller” is nothing more than a propaganda piece for late-term abortions. The movie tries to portray them as caring people – even heroes – but the side I have seen of these people more resembles the persona of Kermit Gosnell than Albert Schweitzer,” she said. “In my opinion, they all belong in prison.”

No, I will never forget the ashes, ever, and for all the little baby boys and girls that lost their little lives at that abortuary, my heart cries, but my resolve remains strong to continue on being that voice for those who have no voice, pressing forward toward the day that unborn human beings will be protected.

When I grow weary and tired, I will always remember the ashes, and this dear Lord I persevere for your precious little children.

Nor is He a Republican or a Libertarian. And I would seriously doubt He’s a Southern Baptist.

Political leaders, political parties, and large religious bodies do not have the wisdom, power, or understanding within themselves to fix what’s wrong with America.

Only the Lord God Almighty does. And until we acknowledge that fact, bow before Him, and obey Him, America will continue its plunge into oblivion.

America has a terminal heart disease. From the Whitehouse to the church house America needs a blood transfusion and a heart transplant. If we are to survive as a nation, the only cure is His blood and His heart in place of our sick, impaired hearts and minds. From the smallest to the greatest, our country must return to roots of faith and trust in the Sovereign God, Creator and Sustainer of the Universe and His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ.

Otherwise, we are doomed.

Storm winds of misconception and deception have swept across this land for several decades, carrying with them the lies of hatred, the diseases of pride, and the cancers of rebellion. Fire hoses of evil. Turned on full-blast. And we are drowning in the deluge of those who “call evil—good and good—evil.”

“An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign shall be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet;…Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. Then it goes, and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation” (Matthew 12:39, 43-45 NAS).

Just look at history to confirm we are following those historical footprints. America is in deep trouble, folks. Look at your emails, Face Book posts or listen to your choice of evening news. We are a divided country. And the silent majority still sleeps, thinking everything’s gonna be all right.

No, it’s not. That’s part of the lie. Things never stay the same no matter how much we wish they could. Everything under the sun is either being daily renewed or is dying. And God is the only One capable of giving life. Refreshing. Restoring. Rejuvenating. Life.

So is God pacing the corridors of the clouds, wringing His hands screaming, “Oh no! What am I going to do now?”

Certainly not. He knows the beginning and the end. We are on His time schedule. Not ours. And He is in control of all things, even those who refuse to believe He is I AM.

King Solomon wrote over three thousand years ago:

“That which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done. So, there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:10 NAS).

The chaos we see today began in the Garden when God’s created people chose to disobey, to rebel against His instructions, and then suffered the consequences for their choices—just like God said they would. They died. Physically and spiritually.

A large percent of Americans believe they can rebel against God’s instructions and live. To expect different results from the same type of rebellion is foolish deception. Yet we all have friends, neighbors and relatives who reject God, pretend He doesn’t exist, and believe there will be no consequences for their choices.

Jesus said we can identify those who belong to Him—by the fruit of DSCF2870 005DSCF2869 004their lives. So understand, I’m not judging anyone—Republican, Democrat or Libertarian. Even my Southern Baptist brothers and sisters—but  God gave me the clear instruction: I am to be a fruit inspector.

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15-20 NAS).

Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance is  listed as identifying fruit produced in our spirit, through God’s Spirit, when we are walking in obedience to Christ.  “The Fruit of the Spirit”. Did you notice those nine character attributes are lumped into a singular product? Fruit—not fruits.  For years I thought I could pick and choose. Who wants to be patient? And meek? Get real. “Til the day I saw “fruit” not “fruits”.

When we come to Christ, the Spirit of God begins the growing, fertilizing, pruning process. Transforming our lives to produce fruit. Good fruit.

What do you hear and see on the evening news? From every branch of government? From every political party? From most of the folks you know? Love? Joy? Peace? Patience? Gentleness? Goodness? Faith? Meekness? Temperance?

Don’t even bother to answer.

Americans are not God’s fair-haired children. God is not an aging, permissive grandfather. As far as I know, the only nation God called His own are the Jewish folks. The only plot of ground He called holy is Jerusalem. And look at what God has done to His kids because of their rebellion. Like it or not, believe it or not, “God is the same. Yesterday, today, and forever.”

He also said, “Those who bless Israel I will bless and those who curse Israel I will curse.” Pull out a history book. Read and see what has happened to every nation, since The Book of Genesis, who cursed Israel. In the books of Daniel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and many of the minor prophets, God gives us a list of His future dealings with most every nation, with the exception of America.

Interesting or frightening? You decide. But I don’t find one of the Old or New Testament prophets mentioning Americans, Republicans, Democrats, or Libertarians. Or yes, even Southern Baptists—only the Jewish people and those who belong to Jesus and those who don’t belong to Him. Where do you fit in the mix?

Understand. Justice delayed doesn’t mean justice denied. It means we are still experiencing the love, the mercy, patience, and everlasting kindness of God, as He waits for those folks who will change their mind in these last days, acknowledge their sin, and by faith come to the cross for mercy, grace, and pardon. Those who will come to Jesus, accept His sacrifice for them, and live.

But His mercy and patience will not last forever. And should you die tonight, the choice you made today: His love, His blood and His heart—or eternal separation from Him—will be your choice. Forever.
